" Other people may be there to help us, teach us
and guide us, but the lesson to be learned
is always your own."

New Sight collaborates with Des Moines Public Schools to provide an alternative setting for middle school boys who are struggling in public school.  Our staff supports two classrooms who serve up to eight students in grades 6-8.  Special education teachers instruct students in math, science, social studies, reading, and language arts with the support of an associate.  The Read 180 program is used to increase student’s reading levels by using a multi media approach tailored to individual learning styles.  Students participate in a daily life skills group to learn coping skills and improve their behavior in the classroom and the community.

New Sight staff also handle all truancy issues and holds students accountable for their attendance and behavior in the classroom.

Referrals can be made to New Sight by a social worker in the student’s home school.

New Sight is committed to improving students in both academic abilities and behavioral needs to help them be more successful in school, life, and the community.
